Mums, remember how as soon as we get the pregnancy news and one of the next thought is getting the cutest baby name….. lol….. Here is my story
I remembered when I was pregnant with my first child, myself and my hubby already agreed on a name suitable for a boy. I called my mum and my mum-in-law to let them know we have a name not knowing that they also have been meeting on the name topic without letting me know. So when i called and told them both, they gave the same answer “oh great! nice name but as grandparents we also have our own name”, I told them it’s fine and okay.
I told my mum to forward the name to me so that I can send it to the church pastor who will be in charge of christening. Only for her to send the name with a must of us using their own name as the baby’s first name and ours second. I waved her off because I thought she was joking.my parent-in-law doesn’t live here so my parents her like the reps for the name thing (I was just happy they were able to come up with a name together ).
Fast forward to the christening day, my mum asked the pastor if I mentioned the name order, they took it so personal that my father-in-law called my husband about it on that day. As much as we loved our own name, we had to change the name order at the last minute just to honour and respect them.
I am expecting baby number 2 and we already notified both sides that there won’t be any baby name submission. Determination of names is solely mine and hubby.
